Koon's work seemed to always show a fairly friendly or innocent image but with a hint at a darker side, however for this piece I don't think it necessarily mattered what his reasoning behind the piece was. I have never seen something that drew the entire attention of the room. The large egg was polished for months to make it perfectly reflect the room like a gigantic mirror, and its delicately reflective nature adds to the sense of fragility of the piece. It grabs your attention and holds it. One of the reasons is how it catches you off guard, you never expect a gigantic blue metal egg.
I'm not normally a huge fan of modern sculpture, but for the level of craftmanship and sheer wow factor I genuinely find this piece quite amazing.
